The Looprevil Press

The Looprevil Press is a student newspaper at the Liverpool Students’ Union, the union for students at Liverpool John Moores University. It is both a student society and a part of the union student media. As of May 2009, The Looprevil Press has been funded by the Liverpool Students’ Union. The Looprevil Press was founded in September 2008 by student Shamit Patel and is currently the only student newspaper in circulation in Liverpool. The LP offices will be located on the second floor of the Haigh building.

 

The name, The Looprevil Press, is simply Liverpool spelled backwards and plays in with our tag line of “Bringing you the other side of Liverpool”. This was done in an attempt to reflect the duality of student life, to show that we can be both professional and a little eccentric of nature.

 

The Looprevil Press started out as a dynamic website which contains four sections; News, Opinion, Entertainment and Sports. The current team consists of 29 members and is made up of writers, photographers and a web designer. The website is active throughout the year while the print edition is circulated four times during the academic year. Our first print edition will be distributed on the 12^th of September 2009.

 

Through out the past year, The Looprevil Press has grown into a stable organization as we look at redefining the media at our university and student union. The Looprevil Press has been one of the most successful societies at the union and that fact was compounded by our winning the Best New Society award at the Make it Happen Awards 2009 which took place in April of this year.

 

We have also established Looprevil Radio (formerly Shout Radio) as the official radio station at the student union. Looprevil Radio and The Looprevil Press will work close together in order to keep the students of our university up to date and entertained with all the latest news, sports and other reports.
